Retro Glasses – Gaining Popularity
Now it is happening with eye glasses. Cat eye glasses are a very good example of the comeback of retro glasses. Cat eye glasses were originally worn in the 1950s and continued on in popularity right into the 1960s. Everyone who needed glasses wore them, and those who didn’t need glasses wished they did. They have extremely thick frames with a pointed top outside corner where they earpieces join the frames. Even movie stars wore them, including Audrey Hepburn in Breakfast at Tiffany’s, which was made in the 1960s.
Another good example of retro glasses gaining popularity in the here and now is the large, oddly shaped glasses of the 1970s and 1980s. These glasses also had thick frames and were most often used in sunglasses. Most often they were large enough to cover at least one third of a person’s face and were used by everyone during those times. They were a great way to call attention to yourself, which was always a goal in the 70s and 80s. Ironically enough, they are most often used by movie stars now as a way to avoid paparazzi and attempt to hide their identities. But they have become just as popular with the everyday crowd outside of the movie industry as well.
No matter which retro glasses are your favourite, you will be able to get your hands on another pair one day. Everything good that goes out of fashion will come right back in one day. It has been proven throughout history and will not change in the near future. It is becoming cool to dress in retro items, and glasses are no exception to that rule. Choose your glasses wisely because your grandkids may be wearing them one day.
